Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade Reviews Science and Technology Activities 2024–2025: Honoring, Connecting, and Developing
In the evolving landscape of higher education, Science and Technology is not only a measure of academic capacity but also the "core driver" for the University to create value for the community and society. On January 10, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) organized the Conference to Review Science and Technology Activities for the 2024–2025 Academic Year. The event aimed to look back at the research and creative achievements of lecturers and students, recognize outstanding accomplishments, and establish directions for scientific research and technology transfer in the coming period.
The conference welcomed Mr. Doan Kim Thanh – Director of the Youth Science and Technology Development Center. Representing HUIT were Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector; Dr. Phan Xuan Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Dr. Bui Hong Dang – Editor-in-Chief of the HUIT Journal of Science; along with heads of various units, authors of prominent scientific works, and representatives of faculty and students. The conference focused on key contents: reviewing Science and Technology activities of 2024–2025, outlining orientations for 2025–2026, receiving guidance from the University leadership, and commending high-achieving collectives and individuals.
Opening the conference, delegates watched a summary video highlighting significant milestones, reflecting the serious research spirit and persistent efforts in scientific publication by HUIT faculty and students. Specifically, research tasks at various levels included 02 international projects, 04 Ministry-level projects, 13 Provincial/City-level projects, and 48 University-level projects for lecturers. Scientific publications saw a breakthrough with 837 papers, including 318 international and 519 domestic articles, reflecting efforts to increase both the quantity and quality of research. Simultaneously, activities linking research with practice continued to be promoted, with 21 consulting and technology transfer contracts totaling 9.84 billion VND.
In the student sector, the scientific research movement spread strongly with 115 University-level projects and 144 scientific papers published by students (including 25 international and 119 domestic articles). Notably, innovation and intellectual property activities recorded clear progress, with 22 new patent applications and 01 trademark registered, alongside 01 granted exclusive patent during the academic year. These results vividly portray the persistent efforts of the University’s teachers and students in elevating academic standards and increasing applied value for society.
Following this, Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan delivered a guiding speech and launched the scientific research emulation movement for the 2025–2026 academic year. The Rector emphasized the key role of Science and Technology in improving training quality, academic prestige, and the University's competitiveness. He noted that research should continue to be promoted toward practical needs, encouraging the formation of focused research groups. The 2025–2026 emulation movement is expected to further spread the research culture throughout the university, fostering participation from both faculty and students.
The award ceremony was solemnly organized, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Khuong announcing the commendation decisions for collectives and individuals with high achievements in 2024–2025. The conference honored 18 award categories, including:
